IF YOU CAN'T TREAD YOUR MACHINE I FOUND IT TO BE HELPFULL IF YOU GO TO A SEWING CLASS AND ASK THE INSTRUCTOR IF THEY WILL HELP YOU WITH THE TREADINGOF YOUR MACHINE, TAKE YOU BOOK WITH YOU AND YOU WILL BE WELL ON YOUR WAY OF ENJOYING THIS SERGER, I JUST LOVE MINE.

I have been sewing for years and have had a 4-thread serger for about 10 years. It was a good serger, but I have always wanted a 5-thread serger, and this one seemed like a great deal. I agree with most of the comments regarding threading, and the book IS very confusing; however, after about 45 minutes, I finally got it done and this serger is AWESOME!!! I did not use the CD or online help, but it is nice to know that it is there if you need it. One of the most important things to remember is needle placement. I found this the most confusing, but once I got a handle on which needle to use, it sews like a dream. If you are new to serging, just be patient with the threading and follow the directions carefully. Hope you enjoy as much as I do!!

Had no idea a serger could do so many things. BUT.. it is difficult to thread. I had all kinds of problems with it, took it to a professional and she got me thru it. It is defintly not for the inexperienced sewer

I have had this machine since Christmas of last year and cannot thread it so that it will actually sew. I have owned other sergers and have never had an issue. I wish someone would help but I cannot even get people that sell machines to touch it.

I've had this machine for six months and can't get it sew. I've even taken it to a sewing shop to see if they can get it to sew.
I called Singer NO HELP...
It's junk

I have not been able to thread this serger,so I can't do a thing!Darlene,you promised to give us the website where to download the manual like the one you show on your presentaion!Help please! rated a 3 as i have not been able to use

I purchased this machine 1 year ago and have spent more time on the phone with Singer trying to get it to sew. I get it all threaded start sewing and not even 30 seconds into sewing the thread breakes. This is a constant problem. I can't use it to serge anything the only thing that works on this machine if the rolled hem feature the rest is useless. I have had sergers in the past and they worked. This on is a waste of my hard earned money not to mention a waste of my valuable time.

I purchased my serger back in April 2008 but after reading all the reviews on how complicated the machine was I got scared to try it until last November then I downloaded and read all step by step instructions from singer's website, two days only and I was doing alterations and serging new clothe for myself.

This Serger is great because it come with 22 features to overlock. I had this serger since last year; my tread doesn't break on me which I like. I did baby roll hem on my evening wear dress with metallic tread, which not every machine can do. I think for the price it is worth it. The only thing I don't like is that I have to go on singer website to remember how to tread the machine.

I love this machine, at first was so hard to thread because when I wanted to change the thread I just pull them out, then I when to singer and I download the manual and is very nice with a lot pictures, after that now is more easy... no I learn that if I want to change the thread I just cut it and add the new one :).. I try already all the stitches and I love the automatic tension for the tread ! and you only need to adjust when you use a different thread such a metallic or rayon.

The Quantumlock Serger is a great machine. You have to be patient in learning how to thread it. I can't give it an Excellent rating because the instruction booklet is really just a supplement to the 230 page instruction book that Singer supplies online. I wish that Singer would have included an instructional DVD. Once you've mastered the threading and it's many features you'll never want to sew without the aid of a serger! In time it gets better!

I've had this machine quite a while now, but avoided it because the threading is so complicated.I spent so many hours studying how to thread & use this machine.After mastering the threading, the stitches looked sloppy.Printing the book takes so much ink, & there are so many mistakes in it! I went back to my 4 thread Janome & it works beautifully. I wish I could return it, but it's too late.

I purchased this machine in July '07 and haven't used it yet because it's so complicated to set up. Yes it came threaded, however, when I tied on my threads to see how it sewed the threads broke so I had to try to figure out how to rethread on my own and wasn't successful. It's pretty complicated. I should have dismantled my regular serger before purchasing this one. The price is phenomenal. I just have to do what I'm supposed to do, read the manual and try, try again.

I've been sewing on a Singer 4-thread serger for 17 yrs. with no problem, thought I'd try this 5-thread for more sturdy serging and quilting. I finally returned this one due to the threads constantly getting tangled and difficulty figuring out how to make it stitch? The price is extremely reasonable at HSN but I was disappointed with the operation of the machine.I am sticking to my 4-thread serger.

I am thrilled with this purchase off of hsn. I was looking for a professional machine with quality stitching that was Worth the money that I needed to spend. This machine has exceeded my expectations. No other 5 thread machines come with the accessory feet and free guide download off of website. Trust me I did the homework. Great job again HSN!!!!!

I am sewing instructor and already own 2 sergers.They are so basic compared to this new Quantumlock. It came set up to do triple coverstitch which I have wanted for years! This machine is comparable to other brands costing twice as much.I know, I have reasearch and tested MANY before spending my $$$. I could not find it for less anywhere.Tension adjustments simple and responsive. I am very happy.

This is not my first serger, but it is by far the most "full featured" ie. complicated. I guess to get one you get the other.
So far it stitches beautifully and hopefully longterm will live up to the hype.
Price was fair, shipping was quick, product as advertised.
Singer needs to simplify threading - and yes it could be done! - to make this a really great 5 star product.

I have been sewing for most of my 49 years, I bought this machine for all the extra features, however be prepared for the threading of this machine. IT is not the easiest to thread and make sure you take the time to download all the books for it because the small book that comes with it does not help all that much with the threading part. Once you get it threaded and it still does not work, pull it all out and start again. You will like it once you make friends with it, just give it time!

I've sewed all my life and I wasn't going to let this little machine get the best of me! Took me awhile to figure out which of the five needles to use, but I was delighted when I made my first seam. I plan to make lots of pillowcases, aprons and quilts. Fast shipment, I'm delighted with my purchase.
