I received my Brother he-240 last wednesday and WOW. I have never touched a sewing machine in my life. I had it put together in an hour and I had embroidered my first dish towel in 30 mins. I have had so much fun with this machine the past 4 days. I have not tried out any sewing features but the embroidery is wonderful. I purchased this model because of the USB connection. I have downloaded over 20 fonts and probably 15 designs since Wednesday. I LOVE IT! I have ordered some koozies and makeup bags to embroider for Christmas gifts. I also just finished embroidering a bag for my best friend. I was amazed at how simple it was to set up and the instructions are great. I have broken a couple of needles but it was my fault the thread got tangled :( not a problem I was back in business in less than 10 mins. I give this machine 5 stars :) I'm addicted to embroidering now. I had read several reviews and contemplated on which machine to get and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

I started out looking for a used machine to make some table runners for my upcoming wedding. While I was searching I came across an ad for an embroidery machine and became intrigued and decided that I wanted a sewing & embroidery machine. I searched around a bit more and google led me to the HSN site. I read a LOT of reviews which were very helpful. My mother always had a Singer machine when I was younger but there were so many bad reviews on the Singers so I decided on the Brother. I ordered my machine a couple of months ago and I think it was a very good choice for a starter machine. The threader is a MAJOR plus and very easy to use. After a few times it is very easy to switch between the sewing foot and embroidery foot. I have also been able to download designs from online. My only disappointment has been that you can only add 12 custom embroidery designs at a time.

I have not sewn or embroidered a day in my life, but I was able to use this machine on the very first day I rec'd it!!! I love it!! It is so easy to use, it is quiet, yet does a beautiful job. I have embroidered on dishtowels, blankets, etc. I have not sewn yet, but I know with this machine I will be able to. My daughter loved it so much, we got her one for her birthday/Christmas..she was able to use my machine with the first try also. This is a wonderfuful sewing/embroidery machine..I recommend it highly. I would definately watch the DVD first, then look over the manuals..buy practice fabric like I did to practice on first, you can learn without worry then of ruining something. I have downloaded designs from the Brother site also..the dragon for a guy is awesome ( did this with my son's blanket..he loves it)!!! Get this, if you can and want to it!!

I wanted to buy an embroidery machine, but didn't want to invest in a professional machine. One of the ladies at our local fabric store suggested I buy a combination home sewing and embroidery machine. I went straight home and did my google. That led me to HSN. AFter revewing the vedio of this product, I ordered it feeling assured this was a good purchase. It absolutely was! I've never had a sewing lesson and this machine is so easy (please read the instructions first) to use. When I hit a glitch, I refered to that section in the instructions. It has been 3 months now and I have made a "Tea for 4"
set (napkins and small tablecloth) for granddaughters with this Initials on the napikins, pillows with each childs name on it,
hemmed my jeans, made purses, quilted a small blanket, and monogram my own shirts and blouses/sweaters/tees! Yes, I've messed up a couple of times but it was my impatience, not the machines. Excellent value!

This machine is just wonderful. I have been sewing for years but now I have a machine that will embroidery also. And I am having a little trouble using the hoops. The only thing I can complain about is there are not any brother teaching videos to be found.

I got this machine about a month ago and love it. I have never had an embrodery machine this is my first. It is so easy to use. I have just about embrodered everything in site.
I also love the sewing machine it is in all a very good deal. I would advise anyone who is beginning to try this, I know you will love it.

I am a first timer with Embroidery. But this machine was VERY simple to learn and understand. Unfortunately I didn't realize the Embroidery field was only 4"x4'. And even if you buy a bigger hoop, it still stays the same. So I had to return it to buy one that had at least a 5"x7" field! None the less, it was a great machine and it embroidered and sewed beautifully. :)

I have had my Brother for a year now. It is my first sewing machine. I highly recommend it for beginners like me. I didn't know if I would like sewing or not and I hated to invest thousands in something that would collect dust. The HE 240 was in my price range and it had everything I wanted in a sewing/embroidery combo. After I got over my initial fear of it and learned how just jump in there and start something, I haven't stopped. It's already paid for itself in wedding and baby shower presents!

I was excited to get this but when I got it, read the manual front to back and all other information provided, I couldn’t get it started. I asked other people to help me get it started and none of us could get the thread to last and so many issues. So I returned the next day. 1st Item I returned from HSN.

After I received this machine I was almost afraid to get started embroidering but have found more pieces to practice on and iron out the problems it has presented since I had no knowledge in this area. Once I got the hang of all the symbols and when to use them it has been wonderful. I have called Brother for information and moral support and they are very helpful. If you want to Machine Embroidery but do not wish to spend thousands this is the machine for you.

This is the easiest machine I have ever used for sewing and the embroidery part is wonderful, I find it very people friendly. Don't even need to use the directions. It is best to check them tho just to be sure you are using it properly. I agree with another person that there is not enough room to get your hands in there to change the needle and the pressure foot tho. They need to improve on that a bit. I have broke a few needles as the thread gets caught on the spindle and locks up then bends the needle causing it to break. But all in all, it is a great machine for the price and I will have a ball with it. I am already using it to decorate my Tank tops and towels. Thanks HSN...

I have NEVER sewn in my life before and decided that I would like to try it out. I bought the Brother sewing and embroidery machine and LOVE it!! I have had it not even a month now, and I have created some fabulous things. My husband, friends and family are so impressed with what I have already made, especially since I have never used any kind of sewing machine. The handbook is easy to read and understand. After I got the bobbin and needle threaded, I was well on my way to making curtains, baby burp cloths, blankets, etc. The embroidery part of the machine is easy to change out, within a minute or two. The work is beautiful and really adds that personal touch. I highly recommend spending the money for this item, you wont regret it!!!

I have used an old singer the one that has the rocker petal you use your feet as the motor and a few others that I thought were good sewing machines.This Brother HE 240 is the easiest and best machine I have ever used! I am not a very good at sewing but I can fix stuff when it rips. It is an excellent machine for the person thats wants to get into some embroidering. If you are thinking about this machine just buy it you will not be sorry!

This is my first embroidery machine, and I love it. It's so easy to use and does a beautiful job. Been using it less than a week and already made a quilted pocketbook, embroidered a t-shirt and two zip up hoodies. If you are thinking about getting it...take the plunge...you won't regret it. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. Love My Brother HE-240!

I bought this machine as a spur of the moment purchase and out of desperation when my Brother 6500 had to go in the shop for repairs.... I had orders to fill and could not afford to waste any time.... I got the machine in 4 days..... set it up and started embroidering immediately. It sews out beautifully.... the only thing that I am not use to is the "manual" changing of the different feet......my other one is magnetic...... I can't say enough about this machine.... wish I had bought it a long long time ago. I only wish that it had a bigger hoop so I could sew out 5 x 7 designs.... the biggest hoop it does is a 4 x 4......no worries though..... there are PLENTY of things you can do with a 4 x 4 size.... I highly recommend this product. I am a BROTHER girl all they way! Would I do this again?.... YES, YES, YES ! no regrets here!

You need to buy and use only Brother patterns, and even some of them don't allow the lines to line up propperly leaving gaps.

I love it! Easy to use, precise instructions and it lets me be very productive. Now I'm looking for projects so I can use this machine. Don't have second thoughts, it's worth every penny and easy pay makes it a AA+ enjoyment.

I left the sewing machine in the box for a week, too scared to unpack it, thinking that it is going to be the same experience as I had years ago when I was learning to sew. I finally unpacked it, read some of the inserts, and left it on the table for another week. Amazed by all of the functionality it had. I finally started using it, and OMG this is the best sewing maching for a beginner.. it tells you everything, when your bobbin s runing low, or if there was something wrong with the thread. It is amazing. I have been telling everyone how easy this product is to use and learn. DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED!!!!
