I have had this machine for quite a while now. I like that it has all those stitches to play with, and basically it is a good machine. I did have to take it for repair because the feed dog decided to stay in down position. Of the 14 machines that I have, 9 of which are singers, this is the one that goes with me to quilting classes, and guild meets. It took some experimenting, and getting used to, but it is basically a good machine. My friends use this machine when we have sew ins at my house.

Got this in May,To use the needle stop down position, press the button at the lower LEFT corner of selections.
But press again when done sewing --as the thread will pull out of needle if you don't.
I have sewn denim on this & used the monogram feature w/ great results.
I have not figured out the quilt-like stitch thou...anyone ?
Yes not having labels for the feet, sucks...but contact Singer online, they helped me.

"Today's Special" - not so special! Instructions & labels for the feet ARE required & are NOT provided The TV presentation was misleading, and dishonest - HSN still does not believe in honesty towards their customers OR have scruples!! (Not nearly the first thing that I bought from them with the same kind of issues.) Given all that, it has yet to let me down & gives a nice finish on most things though the standard foot is not easy to see through. For simple sewing it’s great.

just love this machine I've sewn a ton on it already and used the decorative stitches to do outlining on a Sunbonnet Sue childs quilt and then did frames around the edges of the blocks in a different stitching pattern and did names and other uses with it. the only thing I didn't like was you have to lift your foot each time you stop to restart but I can live with that.. The Singer Curvy 8780 has a gas petal that doesn't respond without multiple requests, the reverse is very poor, the automatic threader is more time consuming and takes more coordination that just threading the needle. The bobbin burst into little plastic pieces before it was filled. It is self lubricating, yet it is noisy, it sounds like a plastic toy. I have yet to discover the good things about this machine.

The machine is ok. I have no problems with the serger attachment but for the price it's not that great. I don't like the automatic needle up or down when you stop. It makes the machine continue for a second or two after you come off of the foot pedal. When sewing very small areas you can't afford for it not to stop when you are ready for it to stop. I have put this machine in the closet and just use my singer futura for all my sewing.

I love my machine & all the stuff that came with it. But I do have to say that I am REAL glad I got it as the Today Special, because I would never pay $700 for it. This is the 3rd machine I own by Singer. The Curvy has many feature that my Futura C-250 doesn't have. I LOVE the easy load bobbin & auto needle threader. I would recommend this machine from a beginner up to an expert.

Had to take to the service repair and pay 95.00 to get the shutle fixed. The machine can only be bought from HSN and after going to the service center and talking to them this a poor machine and over priced. The serger foot does not work and the service center man just smiled when I ask him about how to use it. Then told me it doesn't. I just wish HSN had this machine.

I thought this was a great machine but in the description it states it does LOWER case letters, and mine did NOT. I needed the lower case so I had to return it which was no hassle at all. I see they still have lower case in the description, so make sure if that is important to you.

This machine is a very good machine, however I will say that I already had a Shark 9110 machine which has all of the same capabilities & more. The diff was the cost, I paid $299 for the Shark, $499 for this one. As far as the bonus feet, most of them are very inexpensive to buy if you shop around, & some you may not even use. The machine itself is just fine, no real complaint with it, except that I agree with the other reviewer that it is a little slow, & overpriced.I would never pay $699 for it.

This machine is like no other singer I have ever owned. It is extremely slow and it doesn't want to move forward when doing double material over seems, like pant hems. I am very disappointed and frustrated. I was too slow returning it since I thought I could figure out what the problem was. I don't recommend it to anyone. It is too expensive for the quality.

Instructions for extra feet, should have come WITH the machine. The feet should have been labeled. Bonus assessories wonderful; a great value. The DVD not very helpful. Showed basic threading, easy to understand via the manual, not the more complicated features. Disappointing.
Not the sturdy, quality that the older machines are. All plastic. Parts of it look like they could break easily.
Not sorry I bought it, not thrilled, either, because of those things. It sews nicely, though!

Go to the Singer website. Click on "Customer Support" in the left menu. At the bottom of that page is a link to "Instructions for Presser Feet". Most are there in both written instructions that CAN be saved and in short video demonstrations.
Have only had machine a short time and it has performed above expectations. Top stitching was nice, even going over 5 layers of denim.

The machine came with NO LABELS OR INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING ANY OF THE PRESSER FEET! The DVD and manual did not include the info either. Singer online did not help because I could not identify the feet. You should have included a DVD along with written instructions that explain all of the above...demonstrating the machine on TV does not help the user at home. I wanted the machine for more than just straight stitching. It is going back. It was a complete disappointment!

This machine does so much. I am replacing my old 30 year sewing maching with this one. Love the needle threader. Had some trouble with the serge foot. Had to call Singer for help. Other than that it is user friendly. I wish the instruction book gave you pictures of each of the feet and what they were for.

I love it. I'm working on a quilt and I've been trying out all of the stitches. It is very easy to work and change stitches. Threading the needle is super fast, the bobbin also. I do not have to rethread the machine to thread the bobbin!! Wonderful! Only thing, I'd rewrite the manual to have English first, then do the Spanish and French in seperate sections, but thats my only critique.

there is no lowercase alphabet on this machine, even though it is listed in the product description. i contacted hsn customer service and singer about the false advertising but i guess they don't think it's important because they just said "oh, well". the singer rep even talks about the lowercase alphabet in the video.

I loved the machine right off, however the extra feet that came with it had no instructions. I had to call into Singer to get them. And I tried for a couple hours to get the ruffler to work on the machine, but it never did (I've attached it to my old machine and it works) The manual for the machine is VERY nice. My only other complaint, the 'easy' self-threading needle gets stuck 65% of the time, that's annoying.

I bought this machine as a today's special. It is a great machine for the money. I am a quilter and this machine is great for that. There is still a lot that I haven't tried on the machine and I will follow the manual as it is easy to learn. The stitches are great. I am very happy with this machine and I would recommend it to any level of experience.
