I bought this for my fiance, but I use it more than him. I love cooking with old fashioned cookware! You know the quality of cast iron is good when it is heavy, that means it is a good solid piece of equipment. Emeril always does a great job! I think cooking with this chili pot makes my food tastes like my grandmothers home cooked meals. Thank you.

I got this mainly to make roasts in, because my roaster is just too big and hard to handle. I haven't made a roast yet, but I have used it for chili and polish sausage with green beans and potatoes. They turned out great. This pot allows the liquid to reduce as it cooks so I don't have too do that later. My husband also seems to think my food tastes better when made in this pot. I found the finish very rough.I use a trivet or towel so it does not scratch countertop. It is almost like it missed a final step in the manufacturing process. I thought Emeril would have a more quality product. I also purchased his cookware set and was underwhelmed.

It is too heavy to work with. I have to make sure my husband is around when I cook in it.

I've wanted this pan since I saw it, but just didn't need the extra pan that went with, so when HSN listed this one by itself, I jumped on it. Well, I used it today-made a pot roast with onions. It was marvelous, beef roast was so tender and I've never had such beautiful gravy. One note, you need to watch this pot, it needs to have liquid added often. I had to add stock twice and really should have added more toward the end of cooking. I love this pan, so easy to cook in.
