this product dose exactly what it says it will do. You must read and follow all instructions. I do agree the activator disk and
basket do need to be made larger to accommodate larger pieces. thats why I could only give it a 4.

I found this product to work very well for my needs. I used it to change some of my sterling silver earrings to gold (post and hoop styles), so I'm working with smaller pieces of metal. For sure, the longer you keep the jewelry in the solution, the brassier the color becomes, so take it out earlier - you can always add to it. If you do overdo it, immediately use the gold polish solution that is included with the package. That will take about half of it off, and then you can "dip" it again. I also think you need to make sure of the metal you are working with or you will have some of the "black" problems stated earlier.

The jewelry cleaner turned my items black. The gold plate dipping jar does not accomadate modern sized bracelets. Save your money on avoid this jewelry destroyer.

I make jewlery and I have litterly found a gold mine. This product, if used as directed, is a wonderful way to put a new face on older gold plated items and it saves me a bundle on my cheaper jewlery parts. Give this one a try. I have reorderd this product and plan to keep ordering it.

I also followed the instructions and this kit turned my items black. I buffed them to see if maybe it would look different but just looked like a faded gold color. I do not recommend this kit until some changes are made to it..

I would not recommend this product. I followed directions and tried/ruined a silver bracelet, earrings, etc. Waste of my money.

The plating solution plated only one of several items and did not really look like gold. The jewelry cleaner worked exceptionally well, which is the reason for at least 2 stars

This horrible liquid absolutely ruined a pair of my mothers 50 yr old earrings. I followed the directions to a "tee" and it turned them black. I just cried. This junk should be taken off the market never to return. Can't believe HSN is selling this stuff!!!!!!

My silver turned black! it was CLEAN and tarnish free and the plate and the jewelry still turned black. With such a tiny bottle of solution I had only used it twice before I had to throw away the black liquid and return the kit! The only piece that didn't turn completely black, turned bright yellow. it was just a terrible experience! Don't buy this! Save your money!!!

I am a crafter and jewelry lover ! I used this product per the instructions-- and it worked fantastic !! I did not leave the piece soak in the solution, but dipped until the color was perfect-- just seconds !! I chose a silver ring to test and went forward with a couple favorite items of silver and like magic they are yellow gold !! I will order more for my crafting with silver!

Used this product many years ago on a sterling silver ring that has a turquoise stone in it, and it still looks perfect. Only dipped it once as I did not want it to be too much of a golden color. Looks like 14kt. My suggestion is to use only real gold or real sterling silver pieces and be sure you want to change their color first as from the looks of things, it is a permanent application.

I got this product to plate some silver earrings to match an 18K gold ring, and it worked just as it was supposed to. The earrings look great, even right next to the gold ring. I was a bit nervous because the earrings are set with emeralds, which are fragile, but the solution plated the metal thoroughly and evenly and didn't harm the stones at all.

This product worked well for me. I successfully gold plated two sterling silver rings. I am ordering more to attempt to gold plate some Nicky Butler earrings to go with a gold necklace I have. I am glad HSN got this back in stock.

Followed directions to the T, it made my sterling jewelry black. I tried to polish like it said but it ruined some nice jewelry. Save your hard earned money.

We used it as the directions said, but it did nothing except darken the pieces we used. We are sure that our pieces are sterling silver, but it didn't even make them have a tint of gold! Very disappointed!
